REQUEST FOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO TRUST FUND FOR SAM MANN'S CHILDREN

[Editor's Note: The following is a reprint of a letter dated December 12, 1999 on the letterhead of Wessell & Raney, L.L.P., Wilmington, North Carolina:]

Dear Colleague:

The recent death of our friend and associate Sam Mann has left many of us with an empty feeling in our hearts and a larger void in our lives. He will be missed by all of us.

One of the greatest worries that Sam expressed to many during his last few months concerned his inability to have made provision for the continuing education of his three young children. Although he felt like his family's basic needs would be adequately met, he was very uneasy about the availability of money for his children's college expenses. His abbreviated life span simply had not allowed sufficient opportunity to invest for that need.

As you may know, Sam was a past President of the Wilmington Civitan Club. A group of members of the Wilmington Civitan Club, with the wholehearted support of our club and the blessing of Sam and Kathy Mann, have taken the initiative to set up a trust fund for Sam's and Kathy's children. The purpose of this trust will be the provision of money for the children at the time they choose to seek higher education. The Club and Kathy will serve as co-trustees of these funds, which will be known as the Mann Trusts. The money will be invested conservatively in products where the return is virtually guaranteed.

We are currently seeking contributions to this fund. Anyone interested should make a check payable to the Wilmington Civitan Club, Trustee for Mann Trusts and mail it to:

The Wilmington Civitan Club
PO Box 264
Wilmington, NC 28402

Kathy Mann will be notified of all contributions. If you have questions, contact any of the undersigned.

Sincerely,

Bill Raney (910-343-9460 evening)

Dr. Gordon Coleman (910-343-8320 evening)

Todd Toconis (910-763-7500)

Bill Wilcox (910-791-3455)
